Diablo IV's launch has been relatively smooth thus far, but the game is currently experiencing login queues and errors that are preventing players from playing.

A new login error--"Error 300202"--has reared its head, which tells players simply that "There was a problem logging in." Some players are only seeing the error after waiting in a login queue, after which they are booted out of the queue and forced to go through the entire process again. The issues have been going on for over an hour as of this writing.

[#Diablo4] We apologize once again for the inconvenience caused by today's outages. We're working to resolve this as quickly as possible!

Blizzard is currently aware of the issue. Diablo franchise general manager Rod Fergusson tweeted that the team was working as fast as it could to rectify the server problems. Blizzard's own customer support also tweeted out an apology, stating that it "apologizes for the inconvenience caused by today's outages" and that it's working to resolve the problems as soon as possible.

The new login error is enough to strike fear into longtime Diablo fans, who may remember Diablo III's infamous launch back in 2012. Diablo III was the first game in the series to be always-online (much like Diablo IV is), and suffered from persistent server issues in its first week. The ongoing issues turned the message frustrated players continued to encounter, the dreaded Error 37, into a bit of a meme in and of itself.

It's not the first time Diablo IV has suffered server issues, but those problems have been relatively few and far between following the game's early access launch on June 2 and its full launch on June 6. Blizzard previously said following its Server Slam stress test that Diablo IV's servers were prepared for launch, but that things could still get a "little bumpy" on launch day.

According to Blizzard, Diablo IV is the biggest game launch in the company's history, surpassing Diablo III's 3.5 million copies sold in its first 24 hours, and beating out the launch of World of Warcraft's Shadowlands expansion, which sold more than 3.7 million copies in its first day. Shadowlands briefly held the title of fastest selling PC game of all time, though that throne was quickly usurped by the launch of Cyberpunk 2077. That means Diablo IV certainly seems to be doing well for Blizzard, though the developer has not revealed exactly how many copies the game has sold so far.
