Sony has revealed that one of its PlayStation Plus Premium/Extra games for April is also a day one release: Tales of Kenzera: ZAU. The debut game from actor Abubakar Salim's studio, Surgent Studios, will come to PlayStation Plus' Premium/Extra library when it releases on April 23.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is a 2.5D metroidvania action/adventure inspired by Bantu tales, which follows the story of protagonist Zau as he contends with grief following the death of a loved one. GameSpot writer Kurt Indovina previewed the upcoming game earlier this year, praising Tales of Kenzera's cathartic handling of its subject matter, as well as its solid 2.5D metroidvania gameplay.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU will release on April 23 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC, and on the PlayStation will join the list of titles to join the PlayStation Plus game catalog on the day of its release. Past titles to release on PlayStation Plus on day one include The Game Awards' best indie for 2023 Sea of Stars.

Sony has announced that Dave The Diver, which was also nominated for best indie last year, will be coming to PlayStation Plus Premium and Extra tiers on April 16, a day one release for the game's port to PlayStation 4 and 5. Dave the Diver initially released on PC in June 2023, and has since been released on Nintendo Switch as well.

The full list of games arriving on PlayStation Plus's Premium, Extra, and Classic tiers in April has yet to be announced, however the free games for Essential subscribers have been revealed. The lineup for April includes Immortals of Aveum for PS5, Minecraft Legends for PS5 and PS4, and Skul: The Hero Slayer for PS4.
