Star Trek: Infinite, a new game set in the iconic sci-fi franchise from Nimble Giant Entertainment and Paradox Interactive, has been announced as part of Summer Game Fest.

Details are extremely light so far, so much so that it's unclear what type of game Star Trek: Infinite will be. A brief teaser trailer showed a Federation fleet headed for a showdown with the Borg, before zooming out to reveal what looks like a galaxy map divided into four quadrants. From the faction icons shown in the trailer, it looks like players will be able to choose between the Federation, Cardassian Union, Klingon, and Romulan empires.

Paradox Interactive teases that the game will bring the "captivating fantasy of the Star Trek universe into an experience never before had." Given the types of games Paradox Interactive is known for publishing, Star Trek: Infinite may be a strategy or 4X game.

A full reveal for Star Trek: Infinite will come on June 16, aka Picard Day.
