My goal is to create professional references for filling out job applications using only online discussion. The interesting problem question is how to protect private information because references would have to be real people with e-mail, phone number and address. This sure would be a useful thing to have in place for someone when they were ready to fill out a job application, even if it were just to have someone available with time to say, "He's a nice person, he's clean, he does laundry, he's the most normal person in the world, if you're nice people you should hire him."
If people took turns leading the discussions, directing the topics, they could at least write on the application something like, "I led a support group for job seekers." Because they would actually have an opportunity to be helping to organize the discussion.
Also, this would be helpful for all skill levels because it is practical to have people dedicated to verifying that they know that someone has some qualifications. So people could keep updating that they still have time and access to phone and e-mail to be contacted by a potential employer.
100% professional friend. The goal is to maintain references to have in place that just stay professional and don't creep out. Be people that someone would want to talk to or be friends with or associate with. So, if anyone is interested and could use this kind of resource, please chime in and let's start discussing in theory how it would work. Maybe this could be a great group so start asking questions. Or just comment to say if you think it's a decent idea.
