Studies recommend an intake of 1.2-1.7 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight (0.5 to 0.8 grams per pound of body weight) when working out. You should supply your body with more protein than you break down training to ensure your muscles can recover and grow.
Altough, that's the recommended dose, it seems not enough to me. I intake around 2.5-3 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight and nothing negative has happened to me.
