Opinion of subscription services in online gaming?

Some parts of the video game industry are moving to a subscription based service, mostly MMOs. Do you think it's a better option than having to pay a larger price upfront once?

I don't think it's a better option as with time the price stacks and at the end, it will become more costly. I prefer having a higher price tag on a product but paying once instead of having to pay every month a smaller sum.

I do not like subscription-based services, especially in the gaming industry. I like to pay the full price even if it is very high. Imagine you pay $3 per month, what if you did not have time to play even when you paid the fees. I
