Capitalism is inherently and necessarily exploitative, and can only possibly lead to situations like we see now – the rich crafting the laws by exerting their outsized influence.
It would be great if capitalism worked the way people think it does, where businesses were incentivized to make better products and compete to improve things. But that’s not it at all – they’re just motivated to make more money, and often as not the easier route is bribing politicians or ‘accidentally’ using child labor.
